Hello All,

One of my friends has offered me  his F Reg 1989 Jaguar XJ6 at throw away price. (A price I'm more than happy to pay!).

The car has been neglected in my opinion and I intend on restoring it to its former glory (or at least part way).

What I'd like to know is if anyone has any tips they could give me and if they could pass on the details of the suppliers they use and trust.

I would be very grateful for any help given.
Thanks
Kobe

1989 xj6 why not a real jaguar if your going to restore it? Anything pre 1987 is a real jaguar after 1987 ford motor co had so much influence on the production process that the resulting car can not truely be called a jaguar,in terms of british history.  If you are serious about a restoration you should determine a budget in terms of man hours and dollars to restore this project car. May I suggest that you run a wet and dry compression test first. Also determine if the car can pass the local inspection if the exhuast system and exhuast output will fail the test, then long dollars upwards of $3500 may be required in order to get the emmissions in compliance. Also determine if there is significant rust rot on the cars undercarriage as rot around the rear suspension body fastening points are not fixable. Check if the electrical system is in good working order, this woud include a test of wires flexibility and ability to be easily dissconnected and reconnected. What is the condition of trim features?
