Hi to all,

My current model is an S Type R bought new in August 04 and it is my third S type. At around 10,000 miles I became aware of severe road/tyre noise and brake problems. The dealer eventually changed discs and pads all round and noted undue front tyre wear on the inside edge, feathering I think they call it, the tyres still had plenty of tread left on them. After much discussion and letters to Jaguar, they agreed to pay for one new tyre if I paid for the other one, which I did at 13,000 miles. The car was transformed both in terms road noise and handling. I am now at 21,000 miles and the front tyres have gone exactly the same again, the car is not nice to drive again. The tyre shows a definte raised edge on the inside of each block of tread which is where the road noise is being generated, all geometry is apparently OK.  My question is it a wheel alignment problem? Has anyone else experienced this kind of tyre wear on on S Type R?

thanks
ryan

It is possible that wheel alignment is a factor. However, the dealer or a mechanic would have to look at your car to tell you.

It is a shame the Jaguar didn't pay for it. How do they know it is your fault?
