Per the owner's manual, "the message center illumination is lit at all times when the ignition is ON. All information displayed will be brightly lit if the exterior light switch is OFF."
On my 2003 S-type, the illumination could hardly be considered "bright" during the daylight hours. It IS lit, but seems rather dim in bright sunlight. Is this normal? At night - or even in cloudy daytime hours, I can see it ok - but when viewed in bright sunlight, it is really difficult to read.
Does anyone else have this problem - or am I just going blind?

?
A reply from another forum made me realize my message center illumination is working as designed. When turn on the ignition, use the dimmer to make the light in the message center a little less bright, then turn on the outside lights, it becomes brighter. Guess my only problem is that at the maximum brightness, it isn't quite bright enough for a very sunny day. Sorry, I took so long to figure out that I don't have a problem with the vehicle.
