Well, I haven't done anything to the new car (sans getting the front end repainted due to tons of rock chips) so I decided to do something. I'm going on a trip for Christmas and I didn't want the wife to be bored so I invested in the new Kenwood DDX 6019.

I was torn on what to get but I knew I wanted something that could play DVDs, had blue-tooth connectivity, GPS and Sirius. This thing fits the bill. Although I didn't get the GPS system yet it's nice to know that if I do it's HD based and uses Garmin maps. This means I can update it with an SD car off of the Garmin site, which has great updates.

Do you find that the DVD system is at all distracting when you are driving? How does it work? Can you hear it?

Yes, I did find it a bit distracting on trips, but the wife loved it.  You could hear it great.  It was nice to have sirius going on in the back for my daughter (playing 'kids stuff' channel) and then my wife watching a flick up front.  However, when it's just me in the car it was just sirius.

The time came when I was having ton of electrical problems (not associated with the HU) so I traded the S-Type in for a new almost loaded Jeep Commander.

It does sound nice that your wife and daughter could both enjoy their own media. How's your new jeep working out?
