Series 2 E-type - Mallory distributor & tachometer

The 1970 Series II E-type I'm working on has a Mallory Unilite distributor, which will not energize the factory tachometer. Mallory tells me that (1) their #29074 kit will make the tach work and (2) that it will not depending on who you talk to there. Can anybody help, as we would like to use the Mallory (new) and have the tach work.

\Also has anybody heard of a Bosch distributor (specifically model # JFUR 6, serial #0231142005) being used in this application, as we found one such in the car (presumably replaced with the Mallory altho customer can shed no light). [/b]
