Since I bought my jag s-type back in july 1999, I have had many problems but overall I still love my jag!  I had bought it for about $60,000 and had bought a $3000 - 100K warranty.  To date, my total repair bills (in which warranty covered) has been over $6000.

Most recently I had the weirdest problem.  After a rain storm, I noticed that my car basically died and it gave me several errors including the dreaded "computer gas error" code and several other forms of errors.   The jag would not start or even turn over.

I noticed that there was water in the trunk (where the spare tire was.  After drying out the water, I noticed that there was a loose connection by the fuse box in which a bolt was severed and causing sparks, I took the assembly out and replaced it with another bolt from Home Depot - 33 cents!  After replacing this bolt, the car started!   This is the cheapest Jaguar fix I know of!

But to date, I have had the following problems - PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY...VIA JAGUAR IF POSSIBLE.

1.  Window regulators - all 4 windows
2.  Engine Coils - all 8 cynlinders
3.  New Transmission
4.  New Key ignition system
5.  New Water pump
6.  New cup holder in the front seat
7.  Shifting Cable
8.  Oil Pump
9.  Lug Nuts - Sport Package - $13 a piece x 20!
10.  Navigation resetted itself
11.  Trunk Plastic housing
12.  Bad Left turn Lamp

Now the New problems are:

1.  Air bag light is coming on,
2.  Jag dies when it idles
3.  A/C is blowing out SUPER hot air
4.  Catalytic converter is going bad
5.  Dashboard makes a squeaking noise
6.  Leather seats have black creases

I think its now time to sell my jag.....

Would love to hear if these problems have happened to you and if you still kept your jag after that....does it get worse than this!!  My warranty is about to expire and I will be left out there on my own!

1999-2002 4.0L engine requires a lot of timing chain service work from time to time, unless you are really lucky. Depending on the roads were are you driving, expect to replace: front ball joints, shocks (bushings can't be ordered separate), anti roll bar bushings, anti roll bar links, some may require changing front hub and wheel bearing as well. Ford 5R55N model automatic transmissions are a common problem as well.

Well, I just got back from the dealer and they just quoted me $4700 to repair the six items I had listed in my previous post.   I had "sold" my car to my friend for $10,000 BEFORE I went to the Jaguar dealership, now I have to determine if I should give my friend a $4000-$5000 discount OR just keep this piece of crap!

The good news is that its all paid for and I can continue just paying unexpected repair bills?  How much worse can it GET!!!

Any ideas?
