Author Topic: 2000 S type Failsafe Engine Mode when Accelerating then off when coasting  (Read 2233 times)

Near the end of a 600mi trip the Failsafe Engine Mode message started flashing everytime the accelerator is pressed. Does anyone know what sensor(s) or condition would do that also is it dangerious for the engine? other wise it drive OK.

What engine do you have? 3 liter? What year S-Type model? You should provide as much details as possible and I am sure we will find the problem Wink

This is a common problem. Probably  failed spark coils (even spark plugs) when water/oil hits the spark plug chambers. You need to replace inner boss seals as well (2 required) and replace the failed coils and spark plugs. Check out this thread for more details on spare parts to change
