Please help! Oil on Spark Plug.

Hi Everyone.
I'm new here. I'm from Green Bay, WI and have a 2002 Jaguar S-Type 3.0. I went to go change the ignition coils and plugs, but when I pulled the number 6??? plug, or the one closest to the firewall on the driver's side, there was a lot of oil on it once it came out. So much that it doused my spark plug socket. Any idea what may have caused this? Is this possibly a bad valve cover gasket?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, the reason I was changing plugs and coils is because I had gotten a reading that cylinder 5 was misfiring. Thanks much!

This is not valve cover seal, but INNER BOSS SEAL .... one per cylinder. INNER BOSS SEAL protects coils/spark plug chambers from the oil. This is a common problem with 3.0 type engines your year. Each seal costs less than 15$ but the problem is that it takes time to remove intake manifold and valve cover seals... when you do it - check out that lower breather elbow is replaced / in good combination as well - the part costs less than $20.
