I have a 2003 S-Type r and I am having some problems with 1st gear. Shifting from 1st to 2nd there is a longer delay than other gears and when breaking to a complete stop the car has a hard time shifting out of gear to neutral which makes the passenger think I am slamming on the breaks just before a complete stop is reached. Anyway it seems like the problem is with 1st gear from 1st to 2nd and from 1st to neautral.

Also, one time I got a transmission fault while driving around at about 10mph looking a christmas lights. The car would not shift out of the gear it was in and the fault went away when I turned the car off and restarted it.

Will I need a new trans or are there other fixes? I know it's a 6 speed but what model number trans is in this car?

Any info would be great!

Thanks
Chad

you should visit a mechanic shop and see if there are any error codes recorded..... what is the transmission type, I guess it's ZF, correct?

After more research I found that my problem is know as "Lurch"

The last info I found online about this problem is years old. Is there a fix for this problem now?
