hello all, scuse if i get this a bit wrong but im new here and aint up to speed.    Problem is with my 04 2.7D Auto transmission, had it in for service recently and told them it has a slight "surge" when coming to a halt, a bit of a jerk (no, not me!!).   The service dept knew at once the problem, a faulty trans inter cooler which had been flagged for replacement free of charge and they would fit a new one while it was being serviced.   Cut a long story short,i picked up the car and they had not changed the cooler, the parts and labour where free, but they wanted £400 for the trans  oil change!!  Im a mechanical duffer, anyone enlighten me on a way around my prob, and why so expensive for a simple fluid change, with thanks........Shaun

of course swapping a cooler won't fix jerking..... sounds too fishy to me.

sounds a bit steep for a simple fluid change....... I am not 100% sure about your ZF tranny, but 10L is max, not to mention it's impossible to drain fully... I guess 6 liters or so..... oil filter max 20 GBP......  labour sounds too expensive..... you can easily change oil at any tranny shop....

By the way those "new" ZF transmissions for Jaguar  are known for the jerking (I think it's the same problem you are experiencing).... However, I remember that year or around... transmissions could be fixed with an ECU update - please check if you have the latest  "firmware".... Some people still experience the jerk after firmware updates........
